Jandy Laars Swimming Pool Heater

Laars and Jandy combined their expertise to design the new technologically advanced Lite2 heater. Its easy, programmable features make life around the pool more enjoyable.

Built for dependability and efficiency, the LJ Series Lite2 is one of the most reliable heaters on the market. High-performance insulation and efficient operation make this heater an excellent value. It earns the 5 star rating in the Energy SuperMarket's Consumer Value guide!

Jandy gas heaters will effortlessly raise your pool's temperature well into the 80-90°F range, and/or your spa to 104°F, generate a rapid heat-up, plus ensure a constant temperature regardless of weather conditions.

In addition to warming the water, the swimming season can be extended in cooler climates by as much as 50%. Jandy units require little to no maintenance.

With over 1,000,000 units installed, Jandy's Laars heaters continue to provide reliable and efficient comfort for your pool and spa.

Reliability means Comfort!

Models presently available

We currently stock the 250 & 400 models. Other models may be imported in the future.

Natural gas only!
These models are for natural gas supplied properties. There are LPG versions available - we do NOT stock these. Also 'conversion kits' appear to have been recently discontinued.

Which size / model do I need?

Basic rule: Larger heater is required for larger pools.

  • Pools less than 50sq m = 250 model. Though it is prefectly acceptable for you to use the 400 model for a quicker heat gain.
  • Pools bigger than 50sq m, but less than 100sq m = 400 model.

More info on the actual 'heat gain' you can expect: See the 'pool heat gain' charts below.

Product Applications:

Excellent for residential & commercial pools/spas

Benefits

EASY INSTALLATION
PVC hook-up. The Jandy Laars Lite 2 pool heater is over 30% lighter than its predecessors. Reversible heat exchanger. Easily connects to AquaLink® RS digital controls.

ENERGY EFFICIENT
The efficiency of the Laars Lite2 copper heat exchanger and Flo-Thru™ baffles allow for efficient heat transfer, lowering your pool heating costs and extending your swimming season! The Laars Lite 2 pool heater boasts some of the highest efficiency ratings.

STORM GUARD
Weather resistant jacketing is designed for harsh wind and rain conditions. Teledyne Laars Vent cap further enhances performance in severe weather conditions.

TROUBLE-FREE
Self-cleaning, hot surface ignition which provides quick start-up every time and prevents heat exchanger sooting. No burner tray removal required and igniter easily replaced with one screw. State of the Art electronics keep the Laars Lite 2 running clean and clear.

DEPENDABLE
Ceramic fiber combustion chamber (instead of fire bricks) contribute to a lighter weight and more compact design. This fiber is tough strands of an insulation like material, which never crumbles or cracks.

PROVEN RELIABILITY
There are over a 1,000,000 Laars and Teledyne Laars heaters installed world-wide. This heater has undergone over a year of rigorous field testing (15,000 cycles and environmental testing done to military standards). Laars heaters are the clear market leaders.

CONVENIENT SEALED CONTROLS
Protects thermostats (potentiometers) from corrosion or shorting.

Choosing the right size pool heater - heat gain

Look at the chart below - first, determine the desired temperature difference by subtracting the coldest average air temperature when the pool will be in use from the desired pool water temperature.
Example: 85ºF [desired pool water temperature] - 60ºF [air temperature when pool is opened] = 25ºF difference.

Then, using the Pool Heater Sizing Chart below, select the appropriate heater model number. [Sizing chart based on 3-1/2 mph average wind and average pool depth of 5-1/2 feet]

The Pool Sizing Guide below shows the maximum pool surface area the Lite2 models will heat based on the Temperature Difference* between the air temperature during the coldest month the pool is used and the desired pool temperature. Figures are based on average wind
conditions and average pool depth.

Choosing the right size spa heater - heat gain

The Spa Sizing Guide below details the time required for each model to raise spa temperature by 30°F.

Identify the number of gallons your spa holds. Decide the heat-up time desired, and note on the chart which Lite2 model is recommended.

Example: A model number 250 heater on a 600 gallons spa will take approximately 45 minutes to raise the temperature approximately 30ºF [depending on wind, insulation, etc]

Gas heaters vs Electric heat pumps vs LPG

Though heat pumps are highly efficient, relative easy to install and extremely energy efficient gas heaters can QUICKLY heat your pool to a comfortable temperature for swimming whenever it is required - no matter what the conditions - quickly and quietly.

Cost Effective and Convenient
Gas pool and spa heaters are cost efficient and relatively inexpensive as far as running costs are concerned. They provide the convenience of being instantly available whenever you decide to heat the pool or spa. By utilising thermostatic control, the temperature of your pool can be maintained at the level you select, despite the weather conditions.

Generally LPG gas heaters are not practical for heating pools due to the cost of LPG and the frequent need for changing the bottles. However, they can be practical for spas.

Chlorine - warning

When gas heaters are used on salt chlorinated pools, care should be taken to ensure the production of chlorine is adjusted to suit either the spa or the pool, as internal components could be damaged by excessive salt or chlorine levels. This is particularly important when operating for extended periods during heat-up.

Installation

Whilst we would recommend you use professional services, it is definitely possible for a homeowner to install these units. It would take about 3 hour installation.

Designed and constructed to last a long time in all conditions, consideration should always be given to protecting the heater from the elements.

A hard surface like concrete pad or pavers is required to sit the unit on. Heaters should always be installed on a stable, non-combustible base, preferably a minimum of 50mm above ground level.

Easy to read step-by-step installation manual supplied.

Strongly recommend: Gas hook-up performed by a licensed professional.

IMPORTANT Notes:

  • Use in high wind areas requires a 'High Wind Stack'.
  • Indoor installation requires 'Indoor Draft Hood'.
    [Both purchased separately]

Warranty

1 Year Warranty.

Safety

Chemicals must not be stored in the same room as a gas heater!
